Physics Department Tour - Electron Microscope Lab (Halsey 341)

This is the electron microscopy research lab. The large instrument in the rear of the room is a vaccum scanning electron microscope. It is used by faculty and students in the study of surface physics - how the atoms arrange themselves on materials. With the microscope you can actually see how the atoms do this! It is also used by the Chemistry department in force probe mode.
