Webelos Investigate Pressure

On Monday, December 9, 1996 local Webelo Pack 115 Den 2 from Oakwood Elementary visited the Physics Department for some demonstrations on Pascal's and Bernoulli's Principles as part of their quest for the Science Merit Badge. Members of the UW-Oshkosh Chapter of the Society of Physics Students entertained them with various demonstrations and helped each Webelo build his very own Cartesian Diver. A good time was had by all, and in the word's of Nathan they discovered that "Science Rules!"

SPS members Dan Kramer and Stacey Bucholz give a few words of introduction.

Nathan and Adam fill their Cartesian Diver soda bottles.

Adam experiments with his diver while Nathan listens.

Kyle uses Bernoulli's Principle to his advantage.

Adam takes his turn levitating the ball.

Kyle attempts to blow up a balloon through the pipes.

Adam and Kyle wait for the balloon to explode in the vacuum jar.
