The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and Space Education Initiatives Team Up to Improve Science Teaching

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh is partnering with Space Education Initiatives of De Pere, Wisconsin to improve secondary science teaching throughout Wisconsin.  The new Master of Science in Education (MSE) degree in Secondary Science Education for practicing teachers is now in its second year!

Teachers who participate in this innovative program will strengthen their content knowledge, sharpen their teaching skills, and learn the very latest computer-based classroom technology.  Teachers can either specialize in the teaching of physics and physical science, or in earth and space science.  To complete the degree, teachers must complete 30 credits.  The degree can be completed in two to three years.

Courses are conveniently offered during the school year and during the summer, when teachers can take them.  Most courses are taught online or in a blended (semi-online) format; courses that meet in person will be held on the UW Oshkosh campus.  The MSE program has been carefully designed to meet state and national content and professional development standards.

Applications are currently being accepted.  For more information about the MSE in Secondary Science Education program, please visit the program website at: www.phys.uwosh.edu/lattery/mse/mse.htm
