About the Program The Master of Science in Education (Secondary Science) program is a unique collaboration of the UW Oshkosh College of Education & Human Services, College of Letters & Science, and the Green-Bay based Space Education Initiatives. The MSE program seeks to: (1) strengthen your understanding of subject-matter content Teachers may pursue this degree through one of two tracks: physics and physical science, or earth and space science. All courses has been carefully designed to meet state and national content and professional development standards. We Fit Your Schedule! The MSE program is specifically designed for the busy working professionals. Courses are offered during the school year and during the summer, when you can take them! Most courses are taught online or in a blended (mixture of online and on-campus sessions) format. The program can be complete in as little as two years. For course scheduling and a sample completion schedule, download the MSE program announcement. As a MSE student, you will complete 15 credits in education and 15 credits in a content area (30 credits total.) You may transfer up to 9 graduate level credits from another accredited institution with approval of the Graduate Program Coordinator. You may also receive credit for previous UW Oshkosh courses (like Modeling Physical Science or courses completed through Space Education Initiatives.) If you are not interested in the full degree, we encourage you to enroll in individual courses as a 'Special Student'! Who are we? Our faculty consists of recognized leaders in the field of science education, including: Dr. Mark Lattery (WAPT President, 2005-2006, Director of the Modeling Physics Science program, 2002-2005, and recipient of the 2007 WAPT Award for Service to Teaching of Physics at the Secondary Level), Dr. John Lemberger (Co-PI of the Children’s Literature & Science Project and the Fox Valley Einstein Assessment Project), and Mr. Jason Marcks (Director of the Space Education Initiatives.) MSE faculty are published scholars in the field of science education and are award-winning teachers. |
